Good morning. I went to the Cafe to have a breakfast in the morning. I had nice croissants and coffee. I always breakfast at home but today I realized having breakfast at the cafe is also nice. I can feel more relaxing time. Not all cafes but many cafes in Switzerland when you order breads, a staff serve you a basket which is full of the bread. You can eat as much as you want and later when you pay, the staff ask you ”How many bread did you eat?” . And you say the number of the bread which you had. But this is bit surprise. The satff never check the basket. Just they believe your respond. I’ve never had this kind of system in other countries where I’ve been to.
For me it’s like we are checked automatically our moral senses. Because some bad people will lie. Even small amount of money some bad people want to cheat.
In Switzerland not only this, there are more chances that your moral sense will be checked. For example taking train, here even Zurich main train station there isn’t any ticket gates. And also supermarket a lots of vegetables are sold by separately and you can get how many you wanna have and put the bar code yourself.
When I realized this, I was bit disappointed at my thinking. I feel morals from these systems but actually it should be like this. I think Switzerland gave me chances to notice something which is important and natural but people nearly forget when they grow up.
Thanks Switzerland!!!!!
It’s cold! No, it’s very cold. Mmm not enough… It’s super cold for me!! This morning when I went to townhall, it’s sooo cold and the temperature was -6. (Last week Japan had a very warm day. Like a early summer. We have nearly 30 degrees difference!!) I think this is the first time for me to have such a low temperature in my life. Everywhere was frozen and slippery. When I was walking with Stefan, we both slipped and fell backward. Ouch!! Because of this we knocked our heads on each other. That was hurts!
In the afternoon when I came back from the shopping with Stefan’s mom my pointer finger got caught in the door. Ouch!! After that accidentaly I cut my ring finger… I fed up with saying “Ouch” anymore.
Phew! My insurance’s already effective
Outside is very cold and my body parts still have pains. So I think I’ll hibernate from now on. See you in the spring!!
Happy Valentine’s Day! Today Stefan gave me crazy happy presents to me.
DVD, A bunch of roses, and Luxemburgerli. Can you image how many Luxemburgerli were there in the box?
1,2,3,4,5………..
20,21,22…….
!!!???
In the box there were 52 Luxemburgerlis!!
I asked Stefan why 52? He said normally Swis people buy Luxemburgerli by a gram. And he bught 400g. That’s why not 50 or something good number to stop. I didn’t know buying Luxemburgerlie by a gram. I thought people order the number of them.
I’m really satisfied with Luxemburgerli. I feel like I ate Luxemburgerli for saving. So I think I don’t need and want to eat them in this year…
But I really happy with these sweet presents from Stefan. Thank you very very much. Arigatou.
Information
Macaron in France and Luxemburgerlis in Switzerland ,they are looks very similar.
Both recipe came from Luxembourg and a patissier who is Luxembourger made the recipe and brought it to Switzerland and France. And first he named it ”Kiss of Mousse” But lots of people were ashamed to order to buy them at the shop. But at that time “Kiss ” was not so common and daily ward. When people orderd the sweets ,they say ” I wanna have this which is made by Luxemburg guy” After that the people tired to say sach a long sentence when they wanna buy. So the people started to say ” I wanna buy Luxemburgerli” Then many Patissier in each country arranged the original recipe little bit.
Macaron and Luxemburgerli as seen by me. The shapes are different. French Macaron is more bigger and flat and also you can find and buy big size Macaron which is like a pancake. Swis Luxemburgerli has more high and smaller. As follow their name “Li” in Swis German means “small”
By the way Macaron and Luxemburgerli’s native place in “Luxembourg” This sweets is not popular and bit difficult to find them. Isn’t it strange?
Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day. Japanese Valentine’s Day is girls and women give chocolate (some people also give presents) to their lovers. And just one month later March 14th the boys and the men give something in return. Japanese people call this day “White day” I don’t know why “white” …
Even in Europe each country has slightly different way to Valentine’s Day.
Once I asked Stefan how Swis people spend and celebrate of Valentine’s Day. He told me that normally men give some flowers and good dinner to their lover and there is a no date like a Japanese white day. So for me it’s sounds like women is lucky! No?
But making sweets is one of my hobby so I decided to make something following Japanese style. Wait…Isn’t is bit difficult for give chocolate to Swis people? Because they are gourmets especially chocolate!!
Umm…I was thinking, thinking and thinking. Then I decided to make chocolate cookies what is more it’s American style chocolate chip cookies (-.-)
Japanese girl makes American style chocolate cookies in Switzerland !!
When I went to a supermarket in Switzerland first time, I was really surprised. In the chocolate section of the supermarket is huge.Even I had known that Switzerland was famous for chocolate! I think compare to Japan, here is more than 10times bigger. I can’t choose one from such a many selectiom and also I wonder how Swis people chose their favorite one…
Stefan and I also love chocolate when we go to shopping, we sometimes buy chocolate. Today when I was cheking food and sweets in a shelf, I realized there are many chocolates in a shelf. All chocolates are kind of poison to me. So I’ll call this shelf as a forbidden sweet shelf…
