My view

park-in-milan_small In fact at Boss’s age shopping isn’t interesting at all… that’s why my shopping (I mean cloth shopping not supermarket) takes just 1 hour. Stefan is always surprised at the speed (^^)

After the window shopping, we stopped at the park “Giardini Pubblici”.  It’s quite big and has a lot of space for many activities such as tennis and frisbee with dogs. And it has even a little amusement park.  Boss and I rode on a merry-go-round! Stefan wanted to drive go-cart but Boss is still too small…

After that we played with the playground equipment. All of them were made of wood!! I like the way how European make a park. Compared to Japanese people, European people tend to put more emphasis on using wood when they make or build something. Wooden toys have warmth and it has more strength than a toy which was made of plastic. That’s why I love them.

I think there must be some reasons… not only its cost (Normally plastic toys are cheaper than wooden toys)  Here many people tend to treasure old things and old systems while Japanese people tend to seek  something new. It’s not important which one is better. Both have negative points and positive points.

To extent the talk… We can’t deny that we owe our comfortable, easy life to technology.  Because of the advent of PC and mobile, we can write e-mails and send them away in a second, instead of writing a letter, going to post… Moreover now nearly everything you can buy from furniture to food through the internet. So you don’t need to go to shops  in their LIMITED opening hours, as well as carrying heavy things yourself. Not only customers get such benefits but also the owner of net shops get benefits. First of all they don’t need to have a real shop which means they don’t need to pay for rent fee so much and employ people. So they can cut expeditures a lot.

But you know…when you read a hand-written LETTER and a digital-written LETTER, you will find more affection in the hand-written letter.  In the same way  going to shops has something which “net shopping” doesn’t have. That is “Human Interaction”. Going to shops includes  interacting with somebody in any case (maybe a cashier or somebody who keeps the door opened for you).  No matter how small the talk is, it’s an interaction. Moreover they are also part of real communication. Many people think that using high-tech tools and appliances, we can save time and have easier life. It’s true but our life is getting more stressful isn’t it? How often do you see people who seemed to be displeased or irritated?  I often see such people, when I take Boss for a walk… The worse thing is, when I greet them they don’t greet back… In Japan I also see such people, I think everywhere you can find such people.

I can’t explain my opinion properly but as long as we rely on high-tech tool (As long as we want to have easier life, maybe I should say “Lazy life?”)   interactions between people are getting less and we started to forget what real communication is. Because high-tech tools prevent us from communicating… (high-tech tool makes it possible that our life works without the interaction with people). And what makes worse is that most of us have an endless desire to have more comfortable and easier life. So we always seek for things which make your life easier and started to being addicted to it once we get them.

I might be wrong but probably technology is something which help us a lot, on the other hand it destroys our hearts when we use it wrong way or rely on it too much. It’s like a nitroglycerin which was researched by the Swedish chemist Nobel.

However there are always people who really need such technologies.  For example, if you were unable to walk, you would really appreciate internet shopping wouldn’t you?

Well, I’m not good at explaining my opinion exactly. Please don’t take my voice in a wrong way. I don’ t want to say whether “High tech” tool makes our life worse at all or we should return to the life in the old days. I just want to say that even though we’ve got a high quality of life, our “quality of heart”  hasn’t got better, has it?

I’m realy sure there are many things which we need to learn from the past.
